More about this organization
Two smiling female healthcare workers are posing together in front of a pink background; one is wearing a headscarf and an orange blouse.

In this dual role, you will serve as both a strategic advisor and a liaison coordinator.

As an Education and Training Advisor at the Amsterdam UMC Medical Postgraduate Education Center (MVO), you will work in a results-oriented and dynamic environment where doctors are trained to become medical specialists.

As the OOR coordinator for the Northwest Netherlands region, you will coordinate the allocation process for training positions in postgraduate medical programs.

What are you going to do?

Education and Training Advisor (60%)

In this role, you will serve as a strong partner for educators and professionals in postgraduate medical training programs. You will be the primary point of contact for several programs and provide strategic advice on training quality and development. In addition, you will lead peer review sessions, conduct training sessions, and actively contribute to professional development within the field. Together with colleagues, you will initiate innovative projects and stay abreast of national developments. In this role:

  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking professional development program for medical specialists and residents.
  • Analyze your training evaluations and lead discussions with trainers and teams to develop targeted improvement actions.
  • Coordinate your quality measurements and optimization initiatives.
  • Organize and lead impactful professional development workshops for medical professionals.
  • Will you take the lead on the work at Amsterdam UMC related to the OOR coordination role?

OOR Coordinator (40%)

As an OOR coordinator, you ensure clear communication and coordination with educational institutions and other OOR regions. You maintain contact with central education committees and learning centers and represent OOR NWN at national and regional meetings. You advocate for the interests of OOR NWN and consult with organizations such as UMC NL, NVZ, NZa, and the BOLS Foundation.

You play a central role in the annual allocation of residency positions within the OOR. You are the first to be informed of national policies regarding residency allocation and actively share this knowledge with all stakeholders in the region. Thanks to your independent position, you can, where necessary, act as a mediator between training institutions.

You will also be responsible for the financial management of the OOR fund and for preparing and monitoring the budget. Finally, you will serve as secretary and central point of contact for the Regional Central Education Committee (rCOC) and the OOR board, and provide advice and support to both bodies. You will coordinate and prepare various meetings, manage the agenda and minute-taking, and monitor the implementation of decisions. You will develop policy documents and annual/multi-year plans and ensure the quality and timeliness of these documents. You contribute to an effective consultation structure and policy development within the OOR NWN region by staying continuously informed of national developments in postgraduate medical training. Thorough knowledge of relevant policy regulations and their application, such as those of the NZa and the Registration Committees for Medical Specialists (RGS), is desirable, as is experience with policy development, project management, and financial processes.

What should you bring?

Strategic adaptability

You quickly and effectively tailor your advice to the target audience. You switch effortlessly between working with junior residents and experienced specialists, and adapt effectively to changes in a dynamic field.

Strong group leadership

You know how to lead, motivate, and engage groups of medical professionals. You ensure focus, structure, and results in learning programs.

Clear positioning & constructive confrontation

You’re not afraid to take a stand, take responsibility, and hold others accountable for quality and collaboration. You speak up about what needs to be done, even when it’s uncomfortable—with respect and impact. That’s how you drive change in challenging situations.

Self-reflection & eagerness to learn

You have a clear understanding of your role and actively learn from feedback and experience. You are constantly working on your personal development.

Analytical skills

You analyze complex issues and make well-informed decisions.

The professional development of training institutions, medical specialists, and physicians in training to become medical specialists is also part of the MVO Learning Center’s responsibilities.

Together with your team, you play a key role in continuously improving the quality of our educational programs. In this way, you contribute not only to the quality of healthcare today, but also to the quality of care for tomorrow’s patients.
