More about this organization
Several hands are holding a wooden heart together, with a heartbeat pattern in the background in mint green.

Would you like to use your knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm to help us shape the future of internal oversight in healthcare and social services? Do you want to make a difference at both the strategic and operational levels in an organization that is at the forefront of current developments? If so, we’d love to meet you!

About the NVTZ

The Dutch Association of Supervisors in Health and Social Care (NVTZ) is an independent association with over 1,100 member organizations and more than 5,500 individual supervisors. We represent the interests of and support internal supervisors in carrying out and professionalizing the supervisory profession. Healthcare and social services face major challenges that impact the development of internal supervision. Our work addresses the major challenges in healthcare and welfare. From digitization to changing societal expectations—internal oversight evolves alongside them. The transition to new and different forms of oversight is a key issue for our members. As NVTZ, we support our members in charting their own course toward appropriate oversight.  Our office is home to a close-knit team of policy staff, communications advisors, and management. Together, we ensure substantive innovation, policy development, and a strong positioning of the association. The atmosphere is informal, professional, and engaged.

What will you be doing as assistant director?

Together with the director, you will lead the organization. You will divide the responsibilities between yourselves and set the strategic direction together. As deputy director, your responsibilities will include operations, IT, and product development. You will serve as a key sounding board for the director and stand in for her when she is absent. You will inspire, connect, and build relationships—both with the team and with our members.

Specifically, you will be working on the following tasks.

  • Helping to develop and implement strategic policy;
  • Managing large-scale projects (including the development of a new IT architecture in the early years);
  • The Human Resources, Finance, IT/Information Systems, and Facilities portfolios;
  • Financial statements, budget, and financial reports;
  • The development of products and services in collaboration with internal and external parties;
  • Participation in meetings with the board, committees, working groups, and external stakeholders;
  • Building on our existing cohesion and unity, we are continuing to work on improving clarity, structure, and focus.

Who are we looking for?

You are a passionate and enthusiastic professional with a clear vision, sharp analytical skills, and a pragmatic approach. You combine a commitment to social issues with a deep dedication to healthcare and well-being. You are fascinated by ethical and moral issues within the field, and you have a natural ability to inspire people, create structure, and identify opportunities that benefit members.

  • Academic level of work and thinking;
  • Extensive and proven management experience, preferably in the healthcare and social services sector;
  • Knowledge of and experience with integrated business operations, including finance, IT, HR, and facilities management;
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic policies while remaining pragmatic and results-oriented;
  • Authentic and curious; always on the lookout for promising ideas for the industry;
  • Experience with implementing IT landscape transitions is a plus;
  • A vision for effective internal oversight, preferably combined with experience as a supervisor;
  • Experience with complex stakeholder dynamics, preferably within an association;
  • A collaborative, engaged, and inclusive approach to working together, both internally and externally;
  • In addition, you recognize yourself in the following competencies: organizational sensitivity, reflective ability, situational leadership, and resilience.

What do we offer you?

At NVTZ, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to apply and further develop your expertise and leadership skills. You’ll work in a socially relevant organization with short lines of communication and an ambitious team.

  • Salary according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Hospitals, Scale 75 (€7,015 – €10,406 for full-time employment);
  • A minimum of 32 hours per week;
  • 28 vacation days (based on a 40-hour workweek);
  • Good pension plan;
  • Flexible work arrangements (hybrid), laptop/phone, training opportunities, and team-building days;
