More about this organization
A hand is holding a transparent miniature house, symbolizing housing authority services and support for housing.

Tablis Wonen is looking for a director who, with passion and flair, will prepare our organization to tackle the major challenges facing our sector in the coming years. You are ambitious about the role we play in this. You care deeply about our tenants and public housing. You are a unifying force for both our colleagues and our partners. But you’re also business-minded when it comes to achieving our goals. Does this sound like you? Then we’d love to talk to you!

About Tablis Wonen

Tablis Wonen is a housing association in Sliedrecht. We manage approximately 4,600 rental units in the municipalities of Sliedrecht and Molenlanden. It is important to us that our tenants enjoy living here and have a pleasant, affordable home. We are here for tenants on a modest budget and are committed to sustainability and energy conservation. We do this in close collaboration with residents, our tenant organization SliM Wonen, municipalities, and other stakeholders.

Tablis Wonen is a financially sound organization with dedicated employees, where a human touch is the norm and where it’s a pleasure to work. We have ambitious goals and significant challenges ahead. Together with our new executive director, we will develop our future strategy. You will take the lead in this process, and we will give you the freedom to make your mark on it.

What do we stand for?

The major national challenges related to sustainability and the availability of sufficient, quality (social) rental housing also apply to our region. This translates into challenges regarding the sustainability of our housing stock and the development of new housing. In addition, there are challenging issues in the areas of affordability and quality of life. We operate on the conviction that these challenges can only be addressed through effective (regional) collaboration. The approach Tablis Wonen takes to these challenges is outlined in theTablis Wonen Business Plan 2020–2023. This business plan will be updated in 2024 in collaboration with our new director.

A number of themes remain relevant in this regard. Our tenants—both current and future—are at the heart of everything we do. Wherever possible, we strengthen our engagement and collaboration and ensure high-quality service. We also work to create livable housing complexes, neighborhoods, and communities. And we continue to work toward ensuring there are enough suitable, affordable, and available homes. By 2030, we aim to build 400 new homes in Sliedrecht, and we are working hard to connect our homes to a sustainable district heating network. We are a leader when it comes to natural gas-free neighborhoods.

The organization

Tablis Wonen is managed by a single-person board. The director serves as chair of the Management Team. The Management Team consists of the three managers of the various departments. The Supervisory Board oversees and advises based on “the purpose” and social legitimacy. The Supervisory Board also acts as the employer to the director. The organization comprises over 40 full-time equivalents.

Organizational Development

Tablis Wonen is a financially sound organization. Our challenges require us to ensure our processes are well-organized. Further digitization will also remain high on our agenda. Collaboration (internal and external, local and regional) is a key principle for us. Given our size, we continually assess which knowledge, expertise, and activities we should handle in-house and what we can better outsource or carry out in partnership. Our rapidly changing society demands that we be agile and flexible, which is why we invest in the development of our employees and the leadership of our management. In doing so, we realize that a great deal is asked of our employees, who are often deeply committed to our work and to our tenants. Together, we must find a good balance in this regard. Our Management Team will need to evolve into a more strategically focused team.

Given these challenges, we are seeking a director with extensive experience in organizational development, change management, team building, and coaching leadership.

Who are we looking for?

Committed to our mission

We are looking for a board member who is passionate about our tenants, public housing, and the mission our organization serves in our service area.

  • Charm, connection, and entrepreneurship

The major challenges we face regarding the housing stock, affordability, quality of life, and sustainability require Tablis Wonen to take a creative approach to identifying opportunities and possibilities. We are looking for a director who approaches our challenges with a solution-oriented mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit, and who challenges our people to join in that effort. Because we are increasingly entering into strategic partnerships to address these challenges, we are seeking a networker and connector—both with our tenants and stakeholders, as well as within our organization. Someone who knows how to connect with people.

  • Vision

We are looking for an executive with strong analytical and strategic skills—someone who can interpret the major trends of our time (technological, housing, social, and economic) and, together with the Board of Directors and colleagues, translate them into a new business plan and organizational strategy. You will have ample opportunity to make your mark on this process.

  • Organizational and Change Management Leadership

Experience in organizational development, change management, process management, and team building are key job requirements. We are looking for an inspiring leader who understands the importance of striking a good balance between stability and dynamism, ensuring that change processes are properly initiated, completed, and institutionalized. You will also be able to elevate our management team to a more strategic level. You are a strong-willed individual who can keep a cool head when it comes to translating business needs into the organization’s desired capabilities, yet you have a warm heart and are approachable to employees. Believing in the importance of meaningful employee participation and involving them in developments is essential.

  • Administrative sensitivity

Because the municipality is an important partner and stakeholder for us, we are looking for candidates who have experience navigating the complexities of the administrative landscape. Naturally, this also requires a keen understanding of administrative dynamics.

  • Governance

Our new board member should ideally have experience with governance and the associated roles. You will serve as a sounding board for the Supervisory Board, keep the Board informed of relevant developments, and provide members with up-to-date and relevant information. You will be supported in this by an executive secretary. Tablis Wonen adheres to theHousing Association Governance Code.

What do we offer?

Tablis Wonen offers you a challenging work environment at a dedicated housing association where you and your colleagues can make a difference for our tenants every day. Our field is undergoing rapid development, and Tablis Wonen is committed to making a significant contribution to this progress. We’ll give you plenty of room to make your mark—both strategically and organizationally. The annual salary is in accordance with the WNT standard, Class E, for housing associations.
