RICK, the region’s cultural partner, is seeking a new Executive Director (M/F) for 32–36 hours per week, with a start date of September 1, 2025. As an inspiring leader with a passion for art, culture, and community, you will be the one to help RICK continue building a sustainable future. You will be responsible for positioning the organization, bringing strategies to life, and strengthening networks in the region. RICK is looking for a communicative, empathetic leader with experience in change management and a strong affinity for the cultural sector.

At every stage of life, RICK inspires people through art and culture. We inspire, challenge, and bring people together. Our organization consists of more than 70 professional staff members and a network of over 100 independent contractors. Together, we work in the municipalities of Weert, Nederweert, Cranendonck, Heeze-Leende, and beyond. We are at the heart of the community, connecting with partners in education, healthcare, the social sector, and the cultural sector, and making a difference with projects that touch people’s lives. Our creative home base is located in a vibrant workspace on Wilhelminasingel in Weert.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As the Executive Director of RICK:
- Position RICK as the leading cultural partner in the region. You will translate market trends and our clients’ needs into a clear vision, mission, and strategy.
- Provide direction and focus. You bring strategy to life and drive professional development, innovation, and impact.
- You are the link between vision and execution. You will help build an inspiring work environment, leading the management team and collaborating with the Works Council. You will report directly to the Supervisory Board and serve as RICK’s public face in the region.
- Build bridges. You maintain and strengthen networks and partnerships with stakeholders in the social sector, education, and the arts.
- You ensure that business processes run smoothly. You maintain control over financial frameworks and ensure that goals are achievable.
WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE?
We are looking for an executive director who:
- You demonstrate people-oriented and empathetic leadership. You create a safe, inspiring work environment and have a natural interest in people.
- You have strong communication skills. You navigate political and administrative environments with ease, build lasting relationships, and position the organization effectively, demonstrating administrative sensitivity, strategic thinking, and tact in discussions with various stakeholders.
- You are a team player. You collaborate based on trust and respect and recognize the value of the expertise within the organization. You are part of and lead the management team (not a top-down approach).
- You combine vision with decisiveness. You think strategically, act with a focus on results, and bring ideas to fruition.
- You have experience in change management. You inspire and coach teams to achieve goals together.
- Has a strong affinity for art, arts education, and the social sector.
- Entrepreneurship is a must. You turn opportunities into results and have a knack for financial management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- At least a college-level (HBO+) level of thinking and work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience as a strategic and operational manager or director, preferably in the cultural sector.
- A healthy dose of perspective and humor.
