Are you a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who believes in the power of the library as a fundamental public service? Do you enjoy working with municipalities and partners to promote equal opportunities, literacy, and lifelong learning? Then this is the job for you!
You will set the direction for the strategic course and social impact of the Noord-Veluwe Library. You will translate national and municipal goals into a clear vision and ensure that plans are actually implemented. You will focus on results and highlight the library’s contribution to society.
You will be working within an administrative landscape comprising five municipalities, each with its own ambitions and dynamics. You will also seek to build connections with various community partners. You will build and maintain strong relationships and ensure that the library remains visible and relevant in all municipalities within our service area.
Internally, you will lead the management and staff teams and foster an environment that encourages development, innovation, and professional excellence. You will have ultimate responsibility for sound business operations and transparent governance.
You’ll constantly be switching between strategy, collaboration, and hands-on work. One moment you’ll be discussing the library’s direction and development with the management team; the next, you’ll be talking with local governments about shared goals and the library’s role in the social sector.
You’re often on the go: you visit branches, talk to staff and volunteers, and find out what’s going on. This keeps you connected to the work on the ground and the people we’re doing it for.
In addition, you will work on strategic issues, financial matters, and the organization’s further development. You will also represent the library in regional and national networks and partnerships.
You are a strong and approachable leader with a focus on people and social issues. You bring different interests together and are not afraid to make clear decisions. You feel at home in an administrative setting and know how to hold your own in a political and administrative environment.
In addition, you should have:
A role with real impact, within an organization that is deeply rooted in the community and constantly evolving. You’ll have the freedom to set the direction and make a tangible difference in our field.
We serve the municipalities of Elburg, Epe, Hattem, Heerde, and Oldebroek. We have eleven branches in our service area. The library is an accessible place where residents can read, learn, meet, and explore.
The library plays an increasingly important role in addressing social challenges within the social sector. Together with our staff and volunteers, we work every day on issues such as literacy, digital inclusion, and personal development. We bring people together and help build a strong, resilient society.
