Wikimedia Netherlands is looking for a dedicated director to lead our team and strengthen our mission: making knowledge freely accessible to everyone. You will work closely with our community of volunteers, partners, and stakeholders to organize projects and events that contribute to the free sharing of knowledge. You will lead a team of five professionals engaged in project development, communications, fundraising, and support for the Dutch Wikimedia community. You will be responsible for implementing our strategic direction and multi-year plans, and translating them into concrete goals and budgets. You will also oversee the organization’s fundraising efforts. You will maintain contact with the volunteer community, the international movement, and our external partners.
We are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and strategically strong leader who is intrinsically motivated to contribute to open knowledge. You move easily between strategy and execution, are attuned to organizational dynamics, and have an eye for both people and results.

A salary of up to €6,573 gross per month (based on a 40-hour workweek), depending on your experience. A minimum of 32 hours of work per week. Excellent benefits, including 23 days of paid vacation (based on a 40-hour workweek), an 8% vacation bonus, a pension plan, public transportation reimbursement, and a laptop and phone (or reimbursement for these).
Wikimedia Netherlands (WMNL) is committed to a world where free knowledge is accessible to everyone. We support an active community of volunteers, knowledge institutions, heritage organizations, and libraries in making open and free knowledge accessible through various projects, the best known of which are Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata. Our projects range from thematic campaigns to collaborations with universities and museums. A few days later, the hiring committee will invite a number of applicants for an initial (online) interview. For some of them, this will be followed by a second interview with the committee and an opportunity to meet the staff at our office in Utrecht on Tuesday, October 14, or Thursday, October 16. If necessary, a final interview with the full board will follow. The process will conclude with a discussion of employment terms and conditions.
