Looking for a position starting January 1 / February 1, 2024

Director

(32 hours per week)

About the K.F. Hein Fund

The K.F. Hein Fund is deeply involved in the community and keeps pace with the times. We strive to bring people and ideas together and enjoy collaborating with others, such as through the Utrecht Province Cultural Innovation Fund and KIEM, the joint service desk for nature projects. We also launch our own initiatives, ranging from our Incentive Award for innovative social projects to workshops held in our own library.

The Fund offers more than just money: we enjoy contributing ideas, bringing great projects to the public’s attention, and making our building on Maliesingel available wherever possible.

The fund has a small but highly capable organization, a team of passionate staff members who work every day to make Utrecht more beautiful and stronger: the director, three project advisors, the project coordinator, and the office manager carry out the day-to-day operations. They process grant applications, provide advice, connect parties with one another, and support applicants in word and deed. The staff also actively carry out their own projects within the three committees and at the K.F. Hein Academy.

Foundations and committees

The director is responsible for two foundations and three committees:

K.F. Hein Foundation

The K.F. Hein Foundation is an endowment fund that manages the estate of its founder, Karl Friedrich Hein. The K.F. Hein Foundation has three committees and an affiliated foundation, the K.F. Hein Monument Fund.

K.F. Hein Fund Committee

The K.F. Hein Fund works to make the Utrecht region more beautiful and stronger by supporting projects and community initiatives. We highlight valuable projects and help identify ways for different parties to support one another.

K.F. Hein Fund Committee for Education and Individual Needs

The K.F. Hein Fund for Education and Individual Needs provides financial assistance to students and people in financial need. This typically includes people who are not eligible for assistance from public social services. Students may also receive a scholarship.

Art Committee

The Art Committee supports artists from the province of Utrecht. We do this by, among other things, commissioning and supervising art projects. We also provide space for artists in our own garden studio. The K.F. Hein Stipendium is awarded once every two years.

K.F. Hein Monument Fund Foundation

The foundation manages a number of historic buildings of cultural and historical value, including Sonnenborgh and the Paardenkathedraal. We maintain these buildings in a sustainable manner and lease them to cultural or social organizations. In this way, we also contribute to the preservation of historic buildings and to the craft of heritage conservation.

The fund is supported by two boards and three committees that oversee and advise on the fund’s broad scope of activities. It is a hive of active and engaged individuals who have their antennae tuned to Utrecht society and who help define the fund’s family-like character.
