For 75 years, Calo has been a leader in sports and physical activity education for the sports, education, and healthcare sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for:

As director, you will have overall responsibility for Calo and will work with your colleagues on the Management Team to implement the strategic agenda for the Physical Activity and Education division. In addition to a strong foundation in the field, you bring a fresh, outside perspective. You have a clear vision of physical activity in relation to sports, education, and health, and know how to train professionals for the practice of tomorrow. At the same time, you are well-acquainted with or willing to familiarize yourself with Calo’s philosophy, so that you can effectively promote the organization’s vision. Your leadership style is visible, engaged, and people-oriented. As a bridge-builder, you know how to connect with internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining a balance between Calo’s development and university-wide issues. You provide structure within Calo, which requires clear frameworks and processes. You contribute to stability and clarity, radiating positive energy and inspiring employees and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be visible both within and outside the organization, representing Calo in regional, national, and international networks to strengthen ties with the professional community and make the mutual exchange of knowledge a natural part of our work.
  • You will be responsible for implementing education, research, and lifelong learning at Calo, while establishing a clear organizational structure with well-defined responsibilities and decision-making processes, and ensuring the organization’s soundness in strategic, financial, and human resources terms.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment where diversity and collaboration are central.
  • As a member of the Management Team for the Movement and Education division, you will share responsibility for maintaining and expanding strategic networks at the regional, national, and international levels.

You can approach complex issues with a broad perspective and know how to reconcile interests by making well-considered decisions, always keeping the bigger picture and the organization’s long-term success in mind.
  • You have a strong network within the sports and education sectors, which you know how to leverage effectively for the organization.
  • Do you have strong communication skills and can you easily connect with both internal and external stakeholders?
  • You must have at least a master’s degree.

About the Calo

Calo is part of Windesheim’s Movement and Education division. Currently, over 2,000 students are enrolled in one of its master’s, bachelor’s, or associate degree programs. Calo employs more than 200 faculty members who, in addition to teaching, contribute to the development of the field and practice-oriented research. As the director of Calo, you’ll work 36–40 hours per week. In addition, you can count on:

  • A gross monthly salary between €6,030.72 and €7,687.55 (scale 14 – Manager C – Higher Professional Education Collective Agreement).
  • A one-year employment contract, with the possibility of a permanent position if performance is satisfactory.
  • An employee at Windesheim working a 40-hour workweek (full-time) is entitled to 428 hours of paid vacation per calendar year. This amounts to 53.5 vacation days, including mandatory days off and public holidays.
  • 8% vacation pay.
  • 8.3% year-end bonus.
