KEW aims to promote participation in the arts and culture in Walcheren—specifically in Middelburg, Vlissingen, and Veere—among all age groups: children, youth, adults, and seniors. KEW focuses on cultural education in primary and secondary schools and childcare, cultural participation in the social sector and healthcare, and the development and support of cultural partnerships in the region. KEW operates under a Supervisory Board/Executive Director model. The Supervisory Board has five members. The management team consists of the Executive Director and the Operations Manager. In total, there are nine enthusiastic and dedicated full-time staff members. In addition, we collaborate with 35 cultural professionals on a freelance basis and 20 cultural organizations to achieve KEW’s objectives.
The 2025–2028 policy program will be developed next year in collaboration with the new executive director. A draft work plan is in place for 2024. Some key items from this work plan are:

The new executive director we have in mind is an inspiring and unifying leader who is visible both internally and externally. As an innovative thinker and charismatic doer, you are able to translate ideas into concrete solutions. Your results-oriented approach allows you to seamlessly switch between strategic, tactical, and operational levels. In addition, you are a program manager and know how to effectively lead the Programs department.
We are looking for an executive director who, in addition to serving as a director, will also take on the role of program manager and carry it out with passion. A director with a keen sense of what is needed, both in the municipalities of Walcheren and within the organization itself. With knowledge of the Zeeland network and an affinity for the arts and culture, you will be able to build and maintain networks. You have a broad repertoire to draw upon, enabling you to contribute both at the strategic level—addressing the organization’s ambitions and challenges—and within the regional network. You are authentic, make genuine connections, are close to the staff, and actively invest in fostering relationships.

The remuneration guidelines published by Cultuurconnectie apply to the part-time position of Executive Director (0.89 FTE). The gross annual salary at the midpoint of the pay range is approximately €75,000 (including vacation pay) for a full-time position of 36 hours per week. The appointment is for a period of one year with the prospect of a permanent position.
